More Festival fun planned for 2008!

The walks and social activities are still at the planning stage, but one thing's for sure:  The Llanelli Festival of Walks is on again for 2008, and a convivial weekend is, as always, assured - whatever the weather!  The dates for your diary: Spring Bank Holiday, Friday 23rd to Monday 26th May 2008.

This will be the 13th annual festival, an event that has attracted hundreds of visitors to the town, including many who come year after year.  A 20-strong party from Agen, France, are already planning their second visit.

This year's festival was as enjoyable as ever.  Visitors and local members shared and enjoyed the walks - a choice of 15 including the Brecon Beacons, Tenby, Llandovery as well as more local attractions - and of course the usual popular social events, from the get-together on the Friday, through the Festival Party and on to Monday's farewell Welsh Tea.

Llanelli's Festival is believed to be the only one that is run entirely by members of a Ramblers' Group.  The aim is simply to stage an enjoyable weekend that raises Llanelli's profile as an excellent centre for walking, so that its footpaths and countryside are appreciated and cared for.  Another aim is to break even financially, and with everyone working on a voluntary basis, plus support from local councils and other organisations, the walks fee for the entire weekend is currently just £15 - including all coach travel to and from walks - and this is unlikely to change appreciably, if at all, for 2008.  This will be confirmed as soon as the 2008 programme is prepared.

And as soon as it is, it will be published on this website - including the booking form to print and post off.  So….
