August 19th - Mynydd Illtud and Cefn Llechid circular with Roger Rees

Start:  10.30 am from Brecon Beacons Visitor Centre car park (sometimes called the ‘Mountain Centre’)
Reference: SN 977 262
OS Maps: Landranger 160, Explorer OL12
Parking: Pay and Display car park (£3) at the Visitor Centre
Facilities: Visitor Centre has a shop, tea rooms and toilets
Directions: Please DO NOT use the postcode for the Visitor Centre in your sat nav. It will lead you up a narrow dead end lane that you will have to reverse back down. It does NOT take you to the Centre. The Centre staff are aware of this but are unable to understand why sat navs do it.
If you are driving north east up the Swansea valley towards Sennybridge, turn right off the A4067 at Defynnog on to the A4215.
Follow the A4215 down to the T-junction with the A470.
Turn LEFT at the T- junction, towards Libanus.
Then turn left shortly after, off the A470 at the brown and white sign for the Brecon Beacons Visitor Centre.
Description: Mainly clear paths and tracks over farmland and rough mountainside. Short sections on quiet lanes. Clear views, weather permitting, of Pen-Y-Fan and over the Usk valley from the high point on top of Cefn Llechid.
