August 14th Gower from the Beaufort Arms with John Coates

The walk will start from The Beaufort Arms , Kittle , Gower starting at 10.30 am.
The distance is around 6.5 miles with a couple of short, sharp climbs.

There will be a couple of short cuts available by taking short bus trips (the roads are too dangerous to walk along). Bus times will be provided if anyone wants to shorten the walk, so please bring your bus passes.

August 18th Porthgain Circular with John Davies

Drive west along the A40 from Carmarthen and pass St. Clears, Whitland, Haverfordwest and Wolfscastle to Letterston.

At Letterston village take the left turn onto the B4331 and follow through Castle Morris village to reach the main A437 near Mathry.

Turn left here on A437, through the village of Square and Compass and on to Croesgoch village. Turn right here at the crossroads, at the Artramont Arms pub which is clearly marked “Porthgain”.

Follow this road through Llanrhian village and straight on to Porthgain. Park somewhere near the Sloop Inn.

Alternatively, for those wishing to follow me, we can congregate at the car park, on the left approaching Penblewin roundabout, after passing through Llanddewi Velfrey village. Grid SN 122 166. I will be leaving this car park at 9.30am.

 
 

August 21st Blaencwm Upper Rhondda Valley with Phil Rogers

The walk will start at 10.30 am from Penpych Forest Car Park – Blaencwm / Tynewydd Upper Rhondda Valley – Post Code CF42 5DG.
The distance is 6.2 miles with a winding climb at the start of the walk for about one third of a mile. From there on, the walk covers normal terrain, with a gentle descent for the last 3 miles.
Journey time from Llanelli is 55 minutes. 
 
Directions:- 
1. M4 East – leave the motorway at J43 to join the A465 first exit signposted Neath, Merthyr Tydfil.
2. After 17 miles at the Hirwaun roundabout, take the 3rd exit to join the A4061 Rhigos road.
3. Follow the A4061 for 8 miles to reach the village of Tynewydd. 
4. Turn 1st right (after garage on left) down Hill St, then next right at the T Junction on to Dunraven St. (B4522)
5. Continue to follow the B4522 through the village past Rugby Club on left until you reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork to continue on B4522
6. Next left at Country Park sign to cross river bridge, then left – follow the country park signs on Blaen-Y-Cwm Road for a few hundred yards before turning right to car park.
