2019 Festival of Walks, May 24th - 27th
The 2019 Festival of Walks proved to be another successful event in the Llanelli Ramblers calendar, again with many returning visitors. It was the 24th Festival since its inception in 1995, and we were fortunate to have beautiful sunny weather for the Saturday and Monday walks. There was some rain on the Sunday but that didn’t seem to dampen spirits and all the walks were well received by members and visitors alike. After-walk meals were again organised on the Saturday – particular mention should be made of the Ynysmeudwy Arms, who provided some excellent meals despite last-minute changes, additions and cancellations.
Our thanks to the volunteers who led and back-marked walks, to the Festival Committee, and to Jeff and Diana and the rest of the team for organising tea and cakes to end the Festival after the Monday walks – much appreciated by all. Last but not least, thanks go to the dedicated Llanelli Ramblers members who stayed beside their phones ready to deal with any unforeseen emergencies – of which, happily, there were none.
Thanks too to the three local authorities – Llanelli Town and Rural Councils and Pembrey & Burry Port Town Council – the Principality Building Society, the Selwyn Samuel Centre Llanelli, and Gwynne Price Coaches, for their ongoing support for the Festival.
Preparations will begin shortly for the 2020 Festival and details will appear on this page nearer the time. A printed brochure will be available in February or March 2020, and to request a hard copy, please email your name and address to firstname.lastname@example.org .
